|Escondido Resident and San Marcos Unified School District Receive $25,000 from Discover®|
Discover Gives Back to Education Through Its 2011 Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes
San Marcos, CA, Aug. 22, 2011–Discover today announced that it is donating $25,000 to the San Marcos Unified School District in San Marcos, California, as part of this year’s Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes promotion. The school district was chosen by Escondido resident, Nancy Iacuaniello, an Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes February monthly winner who works in the district offices.
Throughout the year, every purchase made on a Discover card is automatically entered for a chance to win one of 150 daily prizes and a monthly prize of $25,000, which Discover will match with a $25,000 donation to a public school of the winner’s choosing. A grand prize of $1 million will be awarded at the end of the year.
Iacuaniello won the monthly prize when she made a $45 gas purchase with her Discover card in February. She has been a Discover cardmember for 22 years.
“Winning $25,000 from Discover came as a little bit of a shock and, at first, it was hard to believe when I received the call from Discover saying I had won,” said Iacuaniello. “To know that Discover is making an additional $25,000 donation to the San Marcos Unified School District on my behalf gives me an opportunity to give back to the school district I work for.”
Dr. Kevin Holt, Superintendent of San Marcos Unified School District, said the donation will be used for ongoing college scholarships for a graduating senior from each of the District high schools.
“This is a wonderful way for both Discover and the San Marcos Unified School District to honor the memory of Jonathan Iacuaniello, a 2006 graduate,” said Dr. Holt.
“We believe supporting education is critical,” said Sarah Alter, vice president of portfolio marketing at Discover. “We know consumers will appreciate not only the great prizes we’re offering with this sweepstakes, but also the chance to make a difference at public schools across the country.”
There is no purchase, transaction or card application necessary to enter or win the Everyday Giveaway Sweepstakes. For official rules, terms and conditions, and the list of participating issuers of Discover cards, please visit www.DiscoverGiveaway.com.
