Discover Financial Services Launches Online Promotion To Support HGTV Sweepstakes
RIVERWOODS, Ill. February 6, 2001...Discover Financial Services, a business unit of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. (NYSE:MWD), today announced its sponsorship of HGTV's Dream Home Giveaway running February 1 - March 15, 2001. This sponsorship is the latest in a series of alliances aimed at elevating brand awareness for Discover® Card by incorporating interactive online elements into national print or broadcast media buys.

As a presenting sponsor of HGTV's Dream Home Giveaway, Discover Card created the "Design Your DreamSM" sweepstakes to supplement HGTV's existing sweepstakes in which the winner receives a new home on Penobscot Bay in Maine. Viewers who register for the Dream Home Giveaway at HGTV's Web site, www.hgtv.com, are linked to a page where they can register for the Discover Card "Design Your Dream" sweepstakes*. The Design Your Dream winners are chosen at random. The grand prize winner receives a Discover Card loaded with a $50,000 credit to use toward remodeling their home, and the first prize winner receives a Discover Card loaded with a $20,000 credit to use for landscaping. Additionally, each winner's results could be featured in future Discover Card commercials seen on HGTV.

In conjunction with the "Design Your Dream" sweepstakes, Discover Cardmembers can enjoy special offers at related merchants via the Internet ShopCenterSM, accessible at www.Discovercard.com.

The HGTV Dream Home Giveaway follows three recent Discover Card sponsorships that provided both national media exposure and opportunities for more personal contact with consumers. This winter, Discover Card sponsored Comedy Central's Don't Forget Your Toothbrush game show. In addition to prizes awarded to contestants, Discover Card offered an online sweepstakes to visitors of Comedy Central's Web site. In fall of 2000, Discover Card sponsored ESPN Game Day and the GQ Men of the Year awards ceremony.
